Kwang Kyu Choi gathered together at GCU to discuss establishing a new School of Mission to educate and train future missionaries through equipping with theories and practice. 

지난 4월 20일 본교에서는 현재 신학대학원에 속해 있는 선교학과를 선교대학원으로 확장, 발전시키기 위해 지역 선교전문가들과 회의하는 시간을 가졌다.

이 회의에는 총장 김창환 박사와 부이사장 정인수 목사(아틀란타연합장로교회 담임), 신임 교수 이은무 박사 (선교학), 최광규 도미니카 선교사(도미니카공화국 교협 부회장) 등이 참석했다.

이날 회의에서는 30년간 선교 네트워킹을 구축해 놓은 바 있는 이은무 박사를 중심으로 이론과 실제가 겸비된 선교대학원을 설립, 선교지에서 필요로 하는 선교사 양성에 초점을 둔 선교교육을 실시하자는데 뜻이 모아졌다.

또 IMPACT 프로그램을 개발해 목회자와 선교사 공동의 학위 및 수료 과정을 만들어 목회와 선교의 만남을 시도하고 현장 경험이 풍부한 교수 및 선교사들을 초청해 세미나 및 선교현장 교육 등의 다양한 커리큘럼을 개발키로 했다.

정인수 부이사장은 앞으로 GCU가 동남부지역 선교교육의 허브 (Hub)가 될 것이라는 비전을 제시했다.

선교대학원은 목회자 중 선교학 석사 또는 박사학위를 취득하고자 하는 자, 사역 선교사들 중 안신년을 이용해 학위를 받기 원하는 자, 타과목 전공자로 선교를 준비하는 자, 전문인 또는 실버 선교사로 준비하는 자, 기타 다양한 선교사역 개발과 참여를 원하는 선교 관심자 등이 입학할 수 있다.

본교 주최, 음대 주관 및 지역의 여러 단체들이 후원하는 장재원 교수의 오르간 독주회가 3월 30일 (토) 저녁 6:00, 본교 채플룸에서 있을 예정이다. 장재원 교수는 서울 신학대학교에서 오르간 전공, 독일 쾰른 국립음대 대학원에서 오르간으로 음악 석사 학위를 받았다. 한국과 독일에서 수차례 개인 연주회 및 서울, 뉴욕, 애틀란타 지역 교회들에서 오르가니스트로 섬겨오고 있다. 수난 주간의 마지막 밤에, 십자가와 부활의 의미를 되새기는 은혜로운 연주가 될 것이다.
